Gluten-free vegan pancakes recipe

I was recently missing pancakes, but hadn’t made them since I became vegan and gluten-free, so I had no idea what to do. I also find that most pancake recipes are filled with sweeteners and unnecessary ingredients. So I decided to develop my own super simple, sweetener-free, vegan and gluten-free recipe! I also added on a delicious, clean, 2-ingredient sauce.

Easy smoothie bowl recipe

I’ve been a huge fan of smoothie bowls ever since they became a thing (how did we ever live without them?!). But I’ve noticed that oftentimes, acai bowl bases in cafes are mixed with apple juice and other super sweet juices that I normally wouldn’t drink (plus they cost a fortune!).

Where to eat in San Francisco if you're vegan + gluten-free

Ya'll know I've been gluten-free for years, but recently I added vegan to my dietary choices. I don't know if you've noticed, but it's actually not that easy to find restaurants that are both gf AND vegan - seems like most places offer one or the other. So here's a little guide of my favorite restaurants to grab gf/vegan healthy fresh meals in San Francisco.

My first year at Napa Valley Film Fest

Little-known fact about me: I'm not a huge fan of fiction in movies and books. Nor do I drink alcohol. So, Julia, why did you want to go to the Napa Valley Film Fest, you ask? Because: nature, gorgeous venues, documentaries, food presentations, and celebs ... duh.

I chose Project Juice because they're local and have an awesome 3-day green cleanse (Advanced Reset Juice Cleanse) with very little sugar. Brad chose the Classic Reset Juice Cleanse, and we were off! I was definitely worried about being hungry based on all of the reviews I read. But the truth is, I actually never got hungry.

Introducing: nicecream! (recipe inside)

Some of you know that I eat Paleo, which means no dairy, no processed sugars or processed foods, no alcohol, no gluten, minimal grains. Basically it's mostly meats and vegetables, and some fruit. It may sound terrible at first, but it makes you feel great, is super healthy, helps you naturally lose weight, as well as other benefits like clearer skin and more energy, and honestly it's not that difficult once you pass the 1-2 month addiction/craving period. I can go on and on, but I'll save that for a later post.

My summer smoothie recipe

Breakfast has always been a difficult meal for me. I'm often in a rush in the morning, so something quick and easy is best. Unfortunately, a lot of breakfast foods take time and effort, and those that don't are often very unhealthy. For a long time I just ate cereal or a baked good for breakfast, but a few years ago I went on the Paleo diet (meaning I cut out processed sugar, dairy, gluten, and alcohol from my diet, as well caffeine) - best decision I've ever made. It also meant that I had to find something else to have for breakfast.
