Hotel Review: Kimpton's La Peer, Los Angeles

Kimpton's newest location is also it's most luxurious. La Peer is located right off Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, and I was lucky enough to stay there during my last trip to LA. And guess what... I'M OBSESSED.

Every last nook and cranny is thoughtfully designed, from the blue tiled entrance on La Peer Street, leather wall in the sitting room, concrete columns, and neon designs, to the custom graffiti wall by an LA artist, huge bath tubs, and a rooftop with gorgeous LA views.

My friend Anna flew in from SF for her birthday weekend, and we had the most relaxing time at La Peer. We started with a tour of the whole property, and when we got into our room, berries and chocolates awaited us. The bed was huge and comfortable, with a custom yarn "painting" on the wall behind it, and the bathroom was huge and beautiful, with a shower/tub area so you could soak in the tub without worrying about dripping on the floor.

The next day we lounged in the cabanas by the pool, the weather was too cold to swim, but I can't wait to come back and dive in amongst the baby palm trees surrounding the water. We also spent some time by the outdoor bar - a gorgeous art-deco space with H. R. Giger-esque lamps, tiled walls and wooden ceilings.

Every space in this hotel is curated to be an experience. There are little hallways filled with artwork, and even the elevators are lined with custom-painted canvases. The designer's use of natural materials is also impeccable - there's a huge variety that somehow all goes together, perhaps because it's all so organic and earthy. I've really never seen such a large space as La Peer's common area feel so comforting - I never wanted to leave.

I definitely recommend staying at La Peer on your next LA trip, or at least stopping by for a drink at the outdoor bar. They're a short walk off of Melrose Avenue, and right next to Gracias Madres, amongst many other popular eats. And after your stay, tell me what you think!
